About Laura

Founder and Owner of LML StoryLab Consulting, Laura graduated from the University of California, Davis where she studied Biotechnology, emphasis in Microbiology and Fermentation Science. Aspiring to contribute to a world where human health and wellness needs are met in an equitable and accessible way, she pursued a successful career as a scientist, working at the bench and eventually rising to leadership. Her experience spans global organizations and small start-ups including Monsanto Co., Kaiser Permanente, AgraQuest Inc., Bayer Crop Science, and Ginkgo Bioworks, making her uniquely positioned to understand your business's specific challenges. 

During her time at Bayer Crop Science, she discovered her passion for communication. Realizing the power of words and storytelling to create connections and open minds to new ways of thinking, she would spend the entirety of her 11 years with Bayer honing that skill set. In addition to leading the Research Laboratory Operations Group, she also sat on the Microbial Research Technologies R&D Leadership team and led a national business resource group dedicated to advancing Asian leadership all while proactively taking on stretch assignments where she led and participated in external outreach and engagement, internal communication, stakeholder engagement, branding campaigns, and learning and development for her fellow scientists, training them on how to be better science communicators. While at Ginkgo Bioworks, Laura led change management and created internal communication strategies that drove organizational alignment, employee engagement, and trust in leadership.  

As a seasoned communications professional, Laura offers 18+ years of experience in the life science, biotech, and health services industries with a deep understanding of the Agricultural Technology and Biologicals markets.
